Officer Lisa Mearkle

On February 2, 2015, Officer Mearkle of the Hummelstown, PA Police Department, pursued a suspect who refused to obey commands to stop.  As a result of his actions, he was fatality wounded while resisting arrest.  On March 24, 2015, Officer Mearkle was charged with Murder, Voluntary Manslaughter, and Involuntary Manslaughter.  She was suspended without pay pending the outcome of her case.  Officer Mearkle did not put her uniform on that day in February with the intent to harm anyone. Eight months later, on November 5, 2015, Officer Mearkle was acquitted of all charges when a jury found her not guilty.  Through the assistance of Hunt For Justice, Officer Mearkle was able to adequately fight her right to freedom.
